The ability to use more than one flash unit allows you a whole new array of photographic lighting potential. You can do traditional portraits using umbrellas or place a flash unit on the background, hidden behind an object, or to splash light on a rear wall. You can put a unit inside a tent to illuminate it at dusk, or create fake campfire light.  There are many places you can put off-camera flashes for creative effects, but first let’s look at how to make them work.
