To make this work you have to be in a dark room or studio and have the lights off. You attached your PC cord to either a flash meter or hand held device to fire the flash independent of the camera. Set your shutter speed on Bulb and by using a cable release you can leave the shutter open in the dark studio. In the case of this image, I opened the shutter in the dark and manually fired the flash four times to build the required light and exposure to equal f/32.
