Photo Tip: How do Those Lights Work
What is the modeling light good for and shall I keep it on while shooting?
It is your choice as to whether you leave it on or off. If in the studio and you want to see the light pattern you are trying to create you need the modeling light on to see it. If the room you are shooting is very bright then you often cannot see the modeling light patterns.
