PUT YOUR POWER TO USE

I often go to a location and setup for a photo shoot and find that there is no benefit to the photo by using the ambient light. Ambient light is a convenient fill light, but if I want to create drama with my lighting, I prefer to use all strobes strategically placed. I take at least 10 monolights with me on a shoot and have the convenience of lighting complex setups and the ability to avoid using ambient light. As I mentioned earlier, I hate black backgrounds unless something needs to be hidden, and prefer to setup my photographs with a nicely lit background. Remember, your subject is the star of the photo and you must light them as the star and then light the background in a manner
