As you work in professional photography you will be photographing a huge variety of different assignments in a variety of different locations. Many will require you to have a variety of equipment, plenty of lights, and the ability to solve many photographic problems. Your business will depend on it. The difference with location lighting is that you now are lighting ‘scenes’ rather than just a person or an object. You will still light the person or object, but also need to light the scene around the subject and often this surrounding area supports the subject and the story you are telling. In some cases you may not be able to light the entire scene because it is to large and would require a significant amount of lights.The content you are trying to access is only available to members. The presets on digital cameras are rarely much help either. The color coming from a green fluorescent light fixture mixed with a little bit of window light creates a whole new color so neither the preset for florescent or daylight presets will achieve the desired results in these mixed light situations.

This image is the final image and it is a combination of strobes with gels and ambient light. You cannot get this look without this combination because there is a lot of light direction from above which feels and looks natural.The content you are trying to access is only available to members. Kelvin is used as a measurement standard and is most often associated with the measurement of color temperature of light sources. Color temperature is based upon the principle that a black body radiator emits light whose color depends on the temperature of the radiator. Camera White Balance

This screen is from a Canon 40D and I believe that most cameras are the similar. The screens may be different but most of today’s digital SLR’s have the same presets and manual WB options.The content you are trying to access is only available to members. Sorry.

The WhiBal card

This is a very handy device for balancing color on the computer. There are all kinds of products out there for aiding in setting color balance during your shoot. Some photographers use the grey card but keep in mind that this is designed for exposure, not color balance. WhiBal is also guaranteed to be color perfect.

The top image shows a scene with mixed color and you can see with the small squares.
