Auto Fill Reduction
Many flashes automatically apply Auto Fill Reduction when photographing in bright light. This basically means that the flash is doing the work for you by not over flashing the subject. This also means that you may not need to use FEC if you just need some fill light. E-TTL has improved fill flash by making it more subtle when ambient light levels are bright.
