But since Photoshop is my new best friend, I knew there was something I could do and I decided to start playing with the images.  In the end, I chose a very simple technique: I duplicated my background layer and then opened up the curves pallet on that particular layer and started to tweak the curves almost using a cross processed approach or bending the curves to really bend the color. I then added a Reveal All mask to that layer and using a soft brush and black, I painted on the mask and over the hand and the lure.  Eventually I painted a enough black on the mask to actually hide the color toning a fact from the hand and the lure, leaving it all on the background.
