Lesson 28: Page 22

There are a few special techniques to shooting liquid and beer and in this example on the right there is beer in the glass and the rear white wall has two lights, one left and one right that are making the wall hot white which makes the beer very translucent. I usually like to shoot the highlights that will be needed on the products first and this first image is to get the highlight on the right side of the bottle.

The first steps in PS were to clean the label from the Ego highlight, so using the Move tool, I drug the darker label image on top of the base image. Adding a Hide All mask to that layer, I selected the Brush tool and painted white on the mask to reveal the darker label areas and it looked a lot better. The content you are trying to access is only available to members. Lesson 28: Page 26

Another highlight on the left of the bottle was added by copying over that layer, adding a hide all mask, and painting in only that highlight. The content you are trying to access is only available to members. Sorry.

The original bottles that were shot with the lights on left some issues on the glass. The red arrow shows the highlight and the blue arrow shows the reflection of the beer bottle and background.

Often when you shoot these multi-image composite images there is experimentation in using the various elements to composite the final image. One of the last things I do once I achieved my final composite is to delete layers deemed experiments but decided not to use and then name each layer as indicated below. Gilligan’s Tropical Cooler Ad

The idea here was to shoot 3 glasses containing tropical fruit drinks in three flavors. The content you are trying to access is only available to members. Sorry.

Lesson 28: Page 30

The first thing was the color of the drinks and they had to match the real colors presented at the restaurant. We used a combination of PowerAde, Gatorade, and food coloring to get the right colors for the drinks. They were then poured over ice cubes in the glasses at the last minute and after lighting was setup. The content you are trying to access is only available to members. Sorry.
